Your data
Privacy
This is a static site with no accounts, no logins and no database. It still measures traffic, and clicking a buy link still hands you to a retailer who measures rather more. Here is all of it, named.
The short version
- No account to create, no newsletter sign-up, no comment system, and no form on this site transmits anything to a server.
- Google Analytics 4 measures pages and clicks. You can turn it off, and the section below says how.
- Clicking a buy link sends you to a retailer, who runs their own tracking under their own policy.
Analytics
This site runs Google Analytics 4 against two measurement IDs,G-GNEL9DSGN1 and G-RZWFJWWSL5. Every page loads the Google tag once and reports to all of them, which records a page view and, in the ordinary course of doing so, gives Google your IP address (used for coarse geolocation and then discarded by Google before storage), your user agent, your screen size, your approximate location, your language, and the page that referred you.
None of that is used to identify you personally, and there is no attempt here to join it to anything else. It is used to see which articles are read, which comparisons people want more of, and which links are useful.
The click events this site fires
Beyond page views, a single click listener on every page classifies each link or button you press and sends one of three custom events to Google Analytics. There are no others.
| Event | Fired when | What it contains |
|---|---|---|
| affiliate_click | You click a link whose URL carries an affiliate tracking parameter (sca_ref, ref= or tag=). | link_url, link_text, page_path |
| outbound_click | You click any other link that leaves this site. | link_url, link_text, page_path |
| internal_click | You click a link or button that stays on this site. | element_type, link_url, link_text, page_path |
link_text is the visible label of the thing you clicked, truncated to 100 characters. link_url is its destination andpage_path is the page you were on. Nothing you type into a form on this site is ever included in an event, because nothing you type is read by that listener.
Cookies and browser storage
| Name | Set by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one browser from another so repeat visits are not counted as new people. Typically expires after two years. |
| _ga_GNEL9DSGN1 | Google Analytics | Holds the session state for property G-GNEL9DSGN1. Typically expires after two years. |
| _ga_RZWFJWWSL5 | Google Analytics | Holds the session state for property G-RZWFJWWSL5. Typically expires after two years. |
| theme | This site — localStorage | Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode, so the page does not flash the wrong one. Never sent anywhere; it stays in your browser. |
| Dismissal flags | This site — localStorage | Where a page carries a dismissible notice or bar, a flag records that you closed it so it stays closed. Never sent anywhere. |
| Retailer cookies | Affiliate networks and retailers | Set on their domain after you click a buy link, to attribute a purchase. Governed by their policy, not this one. |
Everything in localStorage can be cleared from your browser's site-data settings at any time, with no effect other than forgetting your theme choice.
Affiliate links and third-party tracking
When you click a buy link you leave this site. The retailer or affiliate network then typically sets a cookie on their own domain so that a purchase can be credited back here. That cookie, and everything the retailer does with it, is covered by the retailer's privacy policy — this site has no access to it and cannot see what you looked at or bought. All that comes back is an anonymous commission line in a report.
The affiliate disclosure explains the commercial side of that arrangement.
The contact form
The form on the contact page does not submit anywhere. There is no endpoint behind it. Pressing the button builds amailto: link from what you typed and hands it to your own email client, where you can edit it and choose whether to send. Until you press send in your own mail app, nothing has left your machine — and if you never do, this site never sees a word of it.
If you do email, the message and your address sit in an ordinary mailbox and are kept for as long as needed to deal with what you wrote about. They are not added to a mailing list.
Hosting and server logs
The site is served as static files. Whoever hosts and serves those files will keep their own access logs, which normally include IP addresses, timestamps and requested URLs.
Hoang Hiep is deployed on Vercel as a static Astro site. Vercel may process access logs and infrastructure data needed to serve and secure the site. Their current privacy terms are published atvercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
How to opt out of measurement
- Google's own opt-out. Install theGoogle Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which stops the Google tag from sending anything, on this site and every other.
- Block the tag. Any content blocker, or a browser with tracking protection turned on, will prevent
googletagmanager.comfrom loading. The site works normally without it. - Clear the cookies. Deleting site data for this domain removes the
_gacookies and your theme preference. - Avoid affiliate cookies. Search for the product on the retailer's site instead of using a buy link here. You will pay the same price; this site simply earns nothing.
Google Ads API and Google sign-in
Hoang Hiep also operates an internal Google Cloud application that connects to the Google Ads API. That application is used only by people who already administer our own Google Ads manager account. It is not a consumer product, it is not offered to the public, and it does not sign in ordinary readers of this website.
When an authorised operator signs in with Google, the application requests access to Google Ads accounts they administer. The data retrieved is campaign and account performance we already own: spend, clicks, impressions, conversions, campaign status, and account identifiers. That data is used to monitor budgets, send internal alerts, and — only when the operator has authorised it — pause or re-enable campaigns in those same accounts.
The application does not request Gmail, Drive, Calendar, YouTube, Contacts, or other unrelated Google user data. It does not use Google user data for serving advertisements, does not sell it, does not share it with unaffiliated third parties, and does not use it for independent research or credit decisions. Google user data obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide or improve the internal Ads management features described here, and only in ways that comply with theGoogle API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Access tokens are stored only as needed to keep the authorised connection working. They are not used to build profiles of people outside our Ads accounts. Revoking the app from the operator'sGoogle Account permissions ends the connection.

This site is written for adults buying consumer technology. It is not directed at children, and no information is knowingly collected from them.
